DIY Party Decorations & DIY Terrarium For Small Plants & DIY Wall Art

First and my favorite project was my birthday party. I decided to put some more effort in party this year with some DIY party decorations: paper pompoms, paper medallions, mini garland, glitter numbers, menu and placement cards for each guest. Tutorials for this decorations can be find all over the net. You can see it all on my pics, so enjoy like we enjoyed the celebration and delicious food and drinks.

The next project was DIY terrarium. I've been seeing this lovely terrariums for small plants and succulents everywhere and I really liked the idea. The old aquarium, which was an used for years, just waited for this. Of course, old aquarium didn`t at all look like terrarium I wanted, so I had to figure out a way to give it a new look. Real terrarium are made of glass with brass edges, so I figured that I can imitate brass with gold washi tape. But I didn`t had a gold washi tape, so I decided to make it myself. Ordinary electrical tape, some gold spray paint and that's my version of gold tape. Good enough! Then I put my DIY tape at all the edges of the aquarium, and made the roof of the barbecue sticks painted with gold spray paint. When that was done, the rest was just to plant my cactus and succulents. I added black and white decorative stones on the bottom, then layer of soil and finished it with some real stones and crystals. Nice!

Last project was a makeover of an old, ugly painting. It was a gift, so I didn`t wanted to throw it away. But, it was so dark and depressing, and I didn`t really want it on my wall. I find this method for easy making DIY wall art on Pinterest. There is so many of this paintings and they are all lovely. My painting skills are limited (I`m good when it comes to drawing, but painting with colors...), so I think it is easy enough for me. First I prepared the canvas with two layers of white acrylic paint, and then placed desired amount of different paint colors on a few spots on to the canvas and spread it with small spatula in different motions (everything is a matter of inspiration - I was so occupied I didn`t take pics of that part). Most of the projects I see on Pinterest was a combination of paint and gold leafs. Again I didn`t have a gold leafs on hand, so I used a gold paper from cigarette packs and decoupage it on my canvas. After finishing my wall art, I noticed that it seem like three castaways which are fighting a wild storm, so I named it "Shipwreck". :)

Prvi i najlepši projekat je bila proslava mog rođendana. U napadu inspiracije da se okružim lepim stvarima, odlučila sam da ovoj proslavi poklonim posebnu pažnju, pa su tako nastale DIY dekoracije: pomponi od papirnih ubrusa i slaveta, zidne dekoracije od ukrasnog papira, mini girlanda od salveta, brojevi sa zlatnim gliterom, meni i kartice sa imenima gostiju. Opis i postupak za ove dekoracije mogu se naći svuda na netu, pa vas neću zamarati tutorijalom. Mislim da će fotografije to mnogo bolje da opišu od reči, pa uživajte u slikama, kao što smo i mi uživali u proslavi i finim specijalitetima. 

Sledeći projekat je terarijum za male kaktuse i sukulante.  U poslednje vreme ih viđam svuda i baš mi se svidaju. Stari akvarijum, koji godinama ne koristimo, samo je čekao svojih pet minuta. Naravno, nimalo nije ličio na teratijum kakav sam ja želela, pa sam morala sa smislim način da mu podarim novi izgled. Kako su pravi terarijumi rađeni od stakla i mesinga, smislila sam da mesing imitiram zlatnom trakama na ivicama. Ali nisam imala pri ruci zlatnu Washi traku, pa sam je napravila sama. Obična izolir traka, malo zlatnog spreja i eto zlatne trake. Ivice akvarijuma sam oblepila trakom, a "krov" je nastao od štapića za roštilj obojenih zlatnim sprejem. Kada je to bilo gotovo, ostalo je samo da smestim biljčice. Na dno teratijuma sam dodala crne i bele oblutke, sloj zemlje i posadila kaktus i čuvarkuću i sve dovršila kamenčićima i kristalima.

Poslednji projekat je bio makeover jedne stare, ružne slike, koju sam davno dobila na poklon i bilo mi je žao da je bacim. Na slici je bila mrtva priroda, ali u doslovnom smislu reči. Toliko mračna slika da je bilo nemoguće gledati je, a ne pasti u depresiju. Ideje za ovu vrstu izrade apstrakcija videla sam na Pinterest-u i ima ih zaista prelepih. Moje slikarske mogućnosti su ograničene (ja sam dobra kad je crtež u pitanju ali sa bojama...), pa mi se učinilo da je ovaj postupak dovoljno jednostavan čak i za mene. Platno sam pripremila sa dva sloja bele akrilne podloge, a onda primenila sledeći postupak: na platno naneti u gomilicama boje po želji i malom slikarskom špahlom ih raznositi po platnu kombinovanim pokretima (sve je stvar trenutne inspiracije, a ja sam bila toliko zaokupljena da sam zaboravila da fotografišem taj deo postupka). Slike koje se mogu videti na Pinterest-u rađene su kombinovanom tehnikom boja i zlatnih listića. Kako ja (opet) nisam imala listiće, ja sam iskoristila zlatni papir iz paklice cigareta (jeste, pušim, sram me bilo) koji sam dekupažirala na platno. Nakon završetka moje apstrakcije primetila sam da mi sve izgleda kao tri brodolomnika koji se bore sa podivljalom olujom, pa sam moje remek delo nazvala "Brodolom". :)
