Adorable Weekend Project - DIY Clay Bowls

Here’s a little bit of DIY action for your weekend using clay. It’s so versatile and easy to work with. I decided to make some cute trinkets bowls this time.

Evo jedne male DIY akcije za vikend uz pomoć gline koja je toliko svestrana i jednostavna za rad. Ovaj put sam odlučila da napravim ove slatke posudice za sitnice i nakit. Za jednu sam upotrebila čipkano milje kako bih stvorila zanimljiv uzorak, ali u principu možete koristiti bilo šta da načinite uzorak.

You’ll need: 

-clay 

-smooth chopping board or parchment paper

-rolling pin

-scalpel or knife

-oven proof bowl

-crochet doily

-gold leaf or alternatively metallic gold spray paint

-paint brush

Materijal:

-glina

-činije (otporne na temperaturu)

Tutorial:

Cut a chunk of clay. Roll in your hand to soften and then use your rolling pin to roll it out into a flat disc. If you are using a parchment paper, put it under and on top of the clay to prevent sticking. Then place your bowl or cup on top and trace around the edge to cut out a circle shape.

Postupak:

Otkinite komad gline i mesite ga dok ne omekša. Oklagijom rastanjite glinu na željenu veličinu. Moj predlog je da stavite papir za pečenje ispod i iznad gline kako se ne bi lepila za oklagiju. Koristeći šolju ili nešto drugo okruglo, isecite pravilan krug od gline.

If you are making one with a pattern, take your doily and press with a decent amount of pressure into the clay. Work your way over the whole surface, pushing the pattern in before lifting it off to reveal the imprint.

Ako pravite činiju sa uzorkom, stavite čipkano milje preko gline i ravnomerno ga utisnite u glinu (ja sam koristila oklagiju za to). Vodite računa da podjednako utisnete čipku sa svih strana da biste dobili lep i ujednačen uzorak.

Then gently peel the clay away from the surface and transfer to the bowl, pattern side up. Gently press it down and work your way out to the side so that it fits to the bowl. Your edges may well look a bit wonky at that time, so take the knife and trace around the edge to get an even circle. 

Nežno odlepite glinu sa podloge i smestite je pažljivo u činiju (sa uzorkom nagore). Lagano pritiskajte glinu odozdo nagore uz stranice činije da bi dobila željeni oblik. Ivice možda neće biti savršene, pa ih možete malo korigovati skalpelom ili nožem.

Then place them on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 15 mins on 275F. Once baked, leave them to cool completely before popping it out of the bowl. The easiest way to do that is by turning the bowl upside down.

When the bows are completely cool, you can sand edges a little to make it even and smooth. Then use the gold leaf to glam up the rim. Alternatively you can use metallic gold spray paint to paint the rim gold. 

Stavite činije sa glinom u pleh i pecite 15 minuta na 135C. Kada su pečene, ostavite ih da se potpuno ohlade. Najlakše je da na meku kuhinjsku krpu okrenete činije naopako.

Kada su potpuno hladne, ivice možete nežno ošmirglati da bi bile glatke i pravilne. Tada sledi "šminkanje" činija uz pomoć tečnog zlata ili zlatnog spreja.

When the color is dry you can glaze the whole thing with modge podge or acrylic varnish. This will leave a nice sheen and protect the clay.

You can fill them with jewelry, keys or just odds and ends. They would also make sweet gifts for your friend. It`s so easy and beautiful, you must give it a try!
