DIY French Country Bathroom Sign

Searching for the perfect diy bathroom sign? Look no further because today I`m going to show you how to make unique and handmade diy toilet sign. Create this adorable DIY French Country/Shabby Chic Bathroom Sign with this easy to follow tutorial! It's perfect for your bathroom or your guest bathroom and it is super easy to make! It is so much more convenient to have the bathroom sign on the door so no one has to ask that awkward, “Um…where’s your bathroom?” question. After all, nobody want`s the whole room of people to know about that, right?.

What you`ll need:
- a piece of wood
- printer and printing paper
- pen
- sharpie
- paint
- ribbon
- double sided tape
- nail and hammer for hanging

Tutorial:
To create the word "Toilette" (or Bathroom), I just free handed it (to be precise, I was looking in the word on my laptop and kinda copied it). But if you are not comfortable with this, you can made stencil by printing the letters on the regular printing paper. You can just use Microsoft Word (like I do) or Canva to design your words or letters on a page to print. Once the word is printed, take a pen and trace (scribble) the back of each letter. For more about this technique, check out my post How to Make a Farmhouse Signs the Easy Way. It`s huge on Pinterest!
Next step is to prepare the wood. You can stain it or paint it. I decided to add just a white wash. I just love this look , but you can paint yours any color you like. I used the brush first, and then the sponge to remove the excess paint and tone it down.

After the paint is completely dry, trace the letters on the wood with a pen, which means to go over the outline of each letter. Check if all your letters are traced on the board once in a while and correct if needed. Then go over the traced letters with the sharpie as neatly as you can and you are done! If you like, you can use black paint and a really thin brush. Seal it with a clear varnish for the protection.

Next step is to use a piece of ribbon, make a bow and place it on the back of your sign. Tip: To make your ribbon stay in place, use a double sided tape to secure it.

Hung it on to the door and enjoy! Tip: To prevent your sign from banging while you closing and opening the door, add a double sided tape to the back and stick it to the door. You can also screw it to the door, but I really like this look with a bow. So chic! Uh-la-la!
