Spring Home Tour 2017

Hi everyone! After a week of colder temps, rain and cloudy skies, the sun came out and Spring finally arrived! Today I’m sharing with you my Spring Living Room Tour!

Zdravo svima! Posle nedelja hladnog, kišovitog vremena i oblačnog neba, sunce se napokon pojavilo i Proleće je i zvanično stiglo! Danas vas vodim u prolećnu šetnju kroz naš dnevni boravak!
In our house spring is all about freshness. Since the beginning of the year, I have been in de-cluttering/organization/cleaning overload. [You can catch my recent spring/organization ideas HERE, HERE and HERE.]

Most of my spring decor was brought in through flowers and plants… ok, ok, and a few new DIY shibory tie dye pillows, too! [You can check tutorial HERE]. I also added a white tassel ribbon on the pillows to spruce them up. I love how my new pillows pop against our white couch. During this time of year, I really crave a little color.

Većina mog prolećnog dekora je zato sveže cveće i biljke... dobro, de, i nekoliko novih "uradi sam" jastučića obojenih shibori tehnikom! [Tutorial možete pogledati OVDE]. Jastučiće sam dodatno ukrasila belom pom pom trakom i zaista mi se dopada kontrast plavih jastučića naspram naše bele sofe! Kad krene proleće, žudim za malo više boje u prostoru.
In the spring and summer, my favorite filler is moss. You can add it to bowls, apothecary jars or a cloche. Such an easy and inexpensive way to bring in some texture from the outside. As you can see, I filled a cloche with painted Easter eggs and moss for a quick and easy display.

I added some extra green to this room, like this pretty succulent, and my Fiddle Leaf Fig tree. I have this tree for two years and some leafs are not looking good, but recently he has six new leaves, so fingers crossed he`ll be better now.

Dodala sam i malo više zelenila u sobu, čuvarkuću i moj omiljeni Fikus - Lirasti smokavac.
The biggest change to my living room is the punch of blue brought in through my new pillows, light throw and vases. I`we been collecting blue and white vases for a few years now, and I simply adore them!

Remember how I told you moving your furniture is one of the easiest ways to change the look of the room? As you can see, I moved my bar card on the opposite side of the room and tried to de-clutter it as much as I can. I used just a few books, my big shell and a few decorative objects to spruce it up for the new season. I tried to keep everything monochromatic as it avoids the shelves looking cluttered.

Every girl has to have a little blush pink in the room, right? This color looks amazing paired with neutrals, black and white. I added just a little, with velvet pillow and throw on my chair. This is my reading nook where I put up my legs and enjoy a good book.

BTW, did I mentioned that I win this little furry stool in a Emmezeta contest for a best Christmas decoration photo back in January? That was my late Christmas present and I love it!

On the coffee table I tried to stay minimal too. I put away my wintery coffee table accents and replaced them with touches of gold and natural. I added a DIY clay votive holder (You can check tutorial HERE) with a white candle, a string of natural wood beads and a gold sea urchin on a stack of coffee table books. Next to it is blue and white bowl with a fresh magnolia flowers.

Uklonila sam sve zimske detalje i zamenila ih detaljima u neutralnim i zlatnim tonovima.
I kept a mantel simple too, with candlesticks, small art, blue and white vases and fresh brunches. So there you go friends. A little touch of Spring. I’m looking forward to sharing more Easter and Spring decor as the season approaches!

Na kaminu je jednostavan dekor takođe, par svećnjaka, mala slika, plavo bele vaze i sveže procvetale grančice. I to je to, dragi prijatelji. Mali dodir proleća u našem domu. Vidimo se uskoro sa novim Uskršnjim i prolećnim postovima!

10 Tips How To Design A Small Space And Make A Statement

Hello my beautiful friends! For those of you who are new to my blog, welcome and enjoy!
Having a small room doesn’t mean it should have a small amount of style. With this 10 tips you`ll find out how you can pack plenty of design into your small space.
1. Give the Illusion of More Space
Using a light paint color and keeping that color uniform throughout the space is one of the best interior design tips for making a room appear larger.
Another great tip is to bring in natural light. Emphasize existing windows by using sheer curtains to let in as much light as possible.
When there is not enough natural light, give the illusion of light by using mirrors. Mirrors will bounce light around the room and will trick the eyes to make the room seem larger.
2. Keep It Clean
To keep a room from looking small, use simple design. Often this means that interior design tips will overlap with organization tips.
If you are doing a makeover, consider built-ins to allow storage to be a part of the room’s design and avoid having too many things that take up space.
Choosing a color scheme will give the appearance of a clean room and a cohesive look. Many small space interior design tips include choosing a neutral palette with pops of color here and there.
Choose functional furniture pieces and don’t overcrowd the room. Focusing on just a few great pieces will help your space look well designed rather than over stuffed.
3. Choosing Your Statement Piece
While a simple design will help your room feel airy and light, you will want some visual interest as well. Add that interest, without adding clutter, by choosing one statement piece for your space. Here are some examples:
A piece of furniture can easily become the focal point of a room. In a small bedroom, a perfectly designed chair or sofa is an obviously functional piece that can add plenty of style.
An oversized piece of art can make a huge impact in a small space. Design tip is playing with scale. Hanging one large piece can actually give the illusion of a larger space.
4. Opt For Glass Tables
It’s clean, minimalist, functional, and on the plus, very in at the moment. You’ll keep your living room looking fashionable and spacious since the eye moves right through the translucent material. Best tip: DIY it, like I do! Find the tutorial here.

5. Two Words: All. White
This may seem scary to some especially if you have kids or pets, but white walls in conjunction with white furniture and a light colored floor can majorly brighten a space. Pair your whites with other neutral tones for a clean, concise look, or be brave and go full on white by utilizing different textures and shapes to break it up.

6. Remember The Importance Of Scale
Trying to squeeze multiple pieces of small furniture into a tiny space will always make a room look cramped and congested. Instead, opt for a few bigger pieces which fits the room nicely and leaves plenty of space in the center.
7. Make Room For More With A Floating Shelf
So you’re a book lover with no space to store your books? Install a corner bookcase or floating shelf instead of a hefty shelving unit.

8. Less Is More
If you have lots of small decorative items spotted around, your living room is bound to appear more cluttered. Opt for less decorations that are a bit bigger for an aesthetically pleasing look.
9. Create More Space With Backless Furniture
A few backless pieces like benches, poufs, and stools can provide extra seating, make things look more spacious, and help improve your posture!
10.Play Around With Different Layouts
There’s no better way to figure out how to design your living room than experimenting with a variety of different layouts. Maybe you’re not so into symmetry or maybe you want more space in the middle rather than around your furniture. However tiny the space may be, let yourself go wild because sometimes the most unexpected design can turn out to be just the right one.
And Remember to Follow Your Own Rules
There are plenty of interior design tips to give your space style, but be sure to let your personal style shine through. There are several things you can do to bring your style into your room design.
Use colors and prints that reflect your personality. From upholstery fabrics to throw pillows, there are plenty of opportunities to get creative.
Going against common interior design tips, some homeowners choose to embrace their small spaces with bold design. An intricately patterned wallpaper in a small powder room can create a chic look.
How will you add style to your small space?

DIY Coffee Table - The Easy Way

In my living room, coffee tables has been changing several times in a last few years. First it was this one, then this one...  Seems like they couldn`t settle down in the space... It`s not a large room, so I always thought that we need the glass coffee table, but I couldn`t find the right one.
But, life always have his way of finding the right heroes for the story. One big old three in the park fall down, one piece of glass was thrown away, forgotten and found. That was the beginning of story. My role was to bring them together and give them a new life.
Story begins when I found a round piece of glass. While I was thinking how to make a glass coffee table, I knew I want something more modern, mid-century and gold.
Enter Hairpin Legs!! I found them online, and once they arrived, I had to figure out how to attach them to the glass top. I couldn’t drill right into the glass, so while we were in our cottage, I find interesting piece of wood I was totally forgot of. I knew right away that`s the missing piece I was looking for.
Now, since I have all the parts, first I mark and drill wholes for legs and make it a little bigger on the top to hide the screws. My hubby secure the legs to the wooden top and it was my turn to use a wood putty and to hide the screws. A little bit of sending make it smooth and ready for the next step. spray painted the entire new base and new legs in gold with Effect Gold spray paint and paint wooden top with white paint.
When we brought it home I couldn’t love the way it looks in the room more. You would easily pay $200 or more for this piece, but the total cost was under $20, including all supplies, spray paint and legs. Even better, this lovely coffee table was so easy to make!! Now, I need to brainstorm what to make next!
