How to keep your kitchen clean / Coronavirus Tips

Use this 7 tips to keep your kitchen clean and virus free during the pandemic time and stay healthy.
The kitchen is one of the spaces in which we spend a lot of time at home, therefore, it is one of the places to which we must pay more attention. Also, we are making a lot of meals at home, so I have to make sure that the food is in good condition. Therefore I`m sharing my tips how to make the kitchen free of dirt and possible infections. Especially now, with the crisis of coronavirus (Covid-19).

Latest scientific research shows that virus is a microorganism that cannot reproduce on surfaces or in food, but it can remain in them for hours or even more.  Therefore, we must take steps to protect our family from infections. Which bring us to a 7 tips you can do in the kitchen to keep it clean and virus free.

  1. Before cooking or doing anything in the kitchen, wash your hands with warm soapy water, scrubbing vigorously your fingers, backs, and wrists for 30 seconds. Then dry with a clean cloth or even better single-use paper towel.
  2. Frequently clean countertops and surfaces with a household cleaner or soap and water, rubbing them with a scouring pad intended exclusively for this purpose and leave to act for a few minutes. I use my DIY countertop cleaner: 1 cup 95% alcohol, 2 cups warm water, few drops dish soap and 10-20 drops of essential oil (it`s totally optional and you can skip it). Pour it into a spay bottle and use on the granite or other materials. Then rinse and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  3. Always keep common spaces clean, like knobs on the doors and cabinets, the light switch, the fridge handle.., anything you touch frequently. I use 95% alcohol in a small spray bottle. Just spay it and leave it to dry, or use soap and water, like on the countertops. Also, keep your fridge clean at all times.
  4. Cook food at high temperature above 70ºC and keep it protected to avoid recontamination. If you are not going to use food immediately, refrigerate it or keep it warm (above 65º). Consume as soon as possible.
  5. Clean dishes and kitchenware, preferably in a dishwasher, at maximum temperature.
  6. Change and wash frequently dish towels and the textile material in each cooking session at maximum temperature. You can also leave the scouring pads and cloths to soak in 10% bleach for five minutes. I also iron my dish towels on high temperature to be extra safe.
  7. Finally, when you finish cooking, you should do a general cleaning of the kitchen and the floor and open the windows to ventilate the entire space. You can use DIY cleaner I mentioned before on your countertops, cabinet doors and floor. Mine kitchen cabinets are white, so it`s very easy to notice any dirt, but keep in mind that viruses are not visible, so take time to very accurately clean all the surfaces to avoid any contamination.
I hope this tips will help you to make your kitchen clean and virus free. Stay safe, positive and healthy!

Blush and Neutral Spring Home Tour 2018

Happy spring, friends! It`s my favorite time of the year for decorating and over the last couple of weeks I’ve been adding touches of spring in our house. I’m thrilled to share my home decorated for spring and hope you`ll like our Blush and Neutral Spring Home Tour!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Like every year, I’ve kept my spring decor quite simple, but it makes such a refreshing impact. Simple and clean, with a “less is more” motto is always my style. Some pretty pastels along with the flowers and greenery and we’ve brought in spring!
My theme this year are the usual neutrals with a blush pink. I decided to add this popular color because it`s so liveable and pairs nicely with blue and all neutral colors in our home, including white, gray and black. Although I didn`t do that much, yet I have some fun updates to share with you which includes some new pillows, rugs and the big abstract art piece in our dining room (I`m the artist- can you believe!)
Starting in my entryway I added just a few white flowery branches and a gallery wall on the other side (you can see it here).
For my spring decor in the living room I’m all about simple, beautiful living. I added just fresh flowers to my coffee table and bar card, a little bunch of white carnations on side table, few blush pillows on our sofa and chair and a pink throw! These are simple, easy touches of spring freshness that we love!

Our mongolian fur stool are one of the best things I’ve ever had! I use it for extra seating, as a foot stool or side table. And it is just so pretty!
Love this blush double sided pillow! I find it in Ikea and immediately fell in love. So pretty and comfy on my "reading" chair!
This little ladder are also a new addition to the room. Pretty nice way to keep and display blankets and throws.

And here’s our spring dining room. As I mentioned at the beginning, we have some news here. First of is the rug, that I also find in Ikea. I wasn`t sure about it at first, but my son convinced me to buy it. It`s not the one I want, but it will do for now. Gray is a very forgiving color for the high traffic areas like this. Other novelty is this big art piece on the wall. I wanted something abstract and modern for this space and I painted this the other day. It came out pretty good, don`t you think?

Blush pink plates are also new and also from Ikea (this is not sponsored by Ikea, although I would love it is... ) and on top of them are small floral dessert plates that I have for a long time, along with my silhouette black and white Easter eggs - you can find more about them here.
On the kitchen island I have a try with a pink vase filled with fresh branches, small pitcher with white carnations and marble pounder.
Last, but not least is my kitchen. We did a total makeover here almost six years ago and I still love it. It is a small, but functional space with lot of storage and natural light. The only new thing here is a big farmhouse clock and a small striped Ikea rug. I try not to clutter my work space, so I just added a potted flowers.A bouquet of fresh greens, along with a bowl of freshly picked lemons and apples make the perfect centerpiece for the small cabinet.
Simple little things; like elements from nature, colorful textiles and fresh flowers, are my favorite things to decorate for spring. From our entryway, to the living and dining room and kitchen - there is always room for some refreshing spring decor! I hope you enjoyed our Blush and Neutral Spring Home Tour. A Touch of Spring in the Kitchen

Hi friends, and welcome back for another tour. If you missed my Spring Home Tour - Living room, you can check it HERE. This time I’m sharing our kitchen and although I didn’t go overboard with Spring decorating, by just bringing a touch of Spring with a fresh flowers and a few new details, it already feels fresher.

Zdravo svima i dobro došli u još jedan kutak našeg doma.
As I said, I really don’t decorate my kitchen that much, because the kitchen at Home Chic Club is the workhorse of my home! I cook, bake and even craft there daily, so I try to keep things simple with just a touch of Spring.

Five years ago the kitchen went through a renovation. Did you know that this renovation was a starting point for the Home Chic Club blog? Yes, when we started this renovation, I wanted to capture the moment and then it come to my mind... Why not share it on the blog? And so it all started, and ends in the kitchen. There we constantly bump to each other, our friends love to chat while I`m cooking and I love to drink my morning coffee. I think, every kitchen has some kind of magic, don`t you agree?
When we started renovation, I knew I want a white kitchen. And I’m really loving our white kitchen, but when Spring comes, I really enjoy a little color. Adding color with fresh flowers, like this gentle lily or gorgeous tulips, is my way of doing it. Beautiful scent also comes in handy, right?

These gorgeous yellow tulips are arranged in a small pitcher, next to a cake stand full of fresh lemons. They give me such a pleasure while I`m sitting in a dinning room and looking towards the kitchen.

Fresh fruits, potted herbs or even veggies are not just food, they are also a really inexpensive way to refresh and decorate and they will look great anywhere in the kitchen.
I’ve also been craving lighter, healthier food lately, but I can`t resist to a piece of dark chocolate once in a while. It`s healthy and delicious, so I thought it`s ok to have some. Don`t you agree? I do.

I also find this lovely lilac yesterday...they are not in a full bloom yet, so I`ll have to wait a day or two to enjoy in their full beauty.  But they are lovely anyway.

The other day, I went for a walk and I find these adorable vinegar and oil dispenser in a soft pink tone and I had to brought them home. But, I left behind spaghetti jar and that was bothering me. So, yesterday I went back to pick it up. Much nicer when they are together, right?  😉

Besides this cute pastels, I really love all white dishes. They will help keep my kitchen feeling airy and won’t take away from this gorgeous spring flowers.

Osim ovih pastelnih detalja, u principu najviše volim belo posuđe. Uz njega kuhinja uvek deluje prozračno i lako, a njihova belina samo još više ističe sve nijanse prolećnog cveća.
So there you go friends. A little touch of sun and Spring in our kitchen.
Thank you so much for stopping by today…xo.  I hope you enjoyed my Spring kitchen and I’m looking forward to sharing more Easter and Spring decor as the season approaches.
