A Touch of Spring in the Kitchen

Hi friends, and welcome back for another tour. If you missed my Spring Home Tour - Living room, you can check it HERE. This time I’m sharing our kitchen and although I didn’t go overboard with Spring decorating, by just bringing a touch of Spring with a fresh flowers and a few new details, it already feels fresher.

Zdravo svima i dobro došli u još jedan kutak našeg doma. Ako ste propustili prolećnu šetnju dnevnim boravkom, možete je pogledati OVDE. Ovog puta ću vam pokazati kako izgleda naša kuhinja u proleće. Kada je kuhinja u pitanju, trudim se da ne preterujem sa dekorom. Dovoljno je sveže cveće i par detalja pa da prostor deluje osveženo i lepo. 

As I said, I really don’t decorate my kitchen that much, because the kitchen at Home Chic Club is the workhorse of my home! I cook, bake and even craft there daily, so I try to keep things simple with just a touch of Spring. 

Five years ago the kitchen went through a renovation. Did you know that this renovation was a starting point for the Home Chic Club blog? Yes, when we started this renovation, I wanted to capture the moment and then it come to my mind... Why not share it on the blog? And so it all started, and ends in the kitchen. There we constantly bump to each other, our friends love to chat while I`m cooking and I love to drink my morning coffee. I think, every kitchen has some kind of magic, don`t you agree?

When we started renovation, I knew I want a white kitchen. And I’m really loving our white kitchen, but when Spring comes, I really enjoy a little color. Adding color with fresh flowers, like this gentle lily or gorgeous tulips, is my way of doing it. Beautiful scent also comes in handy, right?

Kao što sam rekla, ne dekorišem kuhinju previše, jer je to moj radni prostor i centar našeg doma. Ovde se kuva, mesi, peče, čak rade i DIY projekti, pa zato volim da sve bude jednostavno, sa tek ponekim dodirom proleća.

Pre pet godina ova kuhinja je prošla kroz veliko renoviranje. A da li ste znali da je upravo to i pokrenulo blog Home Chic Club? Da, kada su krenuli radovi, želela sam da sačuvam te momente i onda mi je palo na pamet da to uradim kroz blog. I tako je sve krenulo, a i završava se u kuhinji. Tu se neprestano sudaramo i guramo, tu naši gosti sa čašom pića vole da ćaskaju dok ja kuvam i tu volim da popijem svoju prvu jutarnju kafu. Mislim da kuhinje poseduju neku vrstu magije, zar ne?

Kada smo odlučili da renoviramo, odmah sam znala da želim belu kuhinju. I dalje uživam u tome, ali kada krene proleće, volim da dodam malo boje u tu belinu. A ima li lepšeg načina da se unese dodir boje u prostor od svežeg cveća poput nežnih zumbula i raskošnih lala? A i predivan miris dobro dođe u kuhinji, zar ne?

These gorgeous yellow tulips are arranged in a small pitcher, next to a cake stand full of fresh lemons. They give me such a pleasure while I`m sitting in a dinning room and looking towards the kitchen. 

Ove predivne žute lale sam aranžirala u jednostavan mali bokal i smestila pored stalka za kolače punog svežeg limuna. Pravi odmor za oči dok sedim za trpezarijskim stolom i gledam kuhinju.

Fresh fruits, potted herbs or even veggies are not just food, they are also a really inexpensive way to refresh and decorate and they will look great anywhere in the kitchen. 
I’ve also been craving lighter, healthier food lately, but I can`t resist to a piece of dark chocolate once in a while. It`s healthy and delicious, so I thought it`s ok to have some. Don`t you agree? I do. Ha, ha...

Sveže voće, posađeno začinsko bilje pa čak i povrće nisu samo odlična hrana, već i savršen i jednostavan način da osvežite i dekorišete i izgledaće fantastično gde god da ih smestite u kuhinji.
Proleće volim i zbog šarenila na pijacama i mnoštva svežeg voće i povrća. Stvarno se trudim da jedem laganu i zdravu hranu, ali ne mogu da ne odlomim i po koju kockicu čokolade tu i tamo... Kažu da je crna čokolada ne samo ukusna, već i dobra za zdravlje, pa mislim da sam u pravu ako verujem da je sasvim ok da se malo gricne, zar ne? Pa, naravno da sam u pravu. Ha, ha...

I also find this lovely lilac yesterday...they are not in a full bloom yet, so I`ll have to wait a day or two to enjoy in their full beauty.  But they are lovely anyway. 

Juče sam našla i divni, prvi jorgovan... nije još potpuno procvetao, pa ću morati da sačekam dan-dva da uživam u njegovoj punoj lepoti. Mada mislim da je božanstven i ovako.

The other day, I went for a walk and I find these adorable vinegar and oil dispenser in a soft pink tone and I had to brought them home. But, I left behind spaghetti jar and that was bothering me. So, yesterday I went back to pick it up. Much nicer when they are together, right?  😉

Pre par dana sam bila u šetnji i našla ove preslatke dozatore za sirće i ulje u puder roze nijansi i morala sam da ih donesem sa sobom. Ali, nisam uzela teglu za špagete i to me je "strašno" mučilo. Zato sam se juče vratila po nju. Mnogo im je lepše kada su  zajedno, zar ne? 😉

Besides this cute pastels, I really love all white dishes. They will help keep my kitchen feeling airy and won’t take away from this gorgeous spring flowers. 

Osim ovih pastelnih detalja, u principu najviše volim belo posuđe. Uz njega kuhinja uvek deluje prozračno i lako, a njihova belina samo još više ističe sve nijanse prolećnog cveća.

So there you go friends. A little touch of sun and Spring in our kitchen.

Hello guys and happy weekend! For those of you who are new to my blog, welcome and enjoy! My name is Vesna and I`m a full time blogger, blogging about everything home and lifestyle related.

Spring is upon us and we'll do our best to make our homes more beautiful and cleaner. Why not start with the organization, it saves both time and space!!In today`s post I`m sharing something to help you organize, because every home needs more organization, right?!! 
I love to be organized and to have dedicated place for everything in my house, so it`s no surprise I go nuts every time my hubby do his thing (chaos, of course). But, to tell you the whole truth, sometimes I`m lazy, sloppy and chaotic too, because life is too precious to be so obsessive. We have the right to be lazy sometimes, right?
Still, I think you`ll agree with me, some places in our homes always need a little more organization, and these are definitely kitchen and pantry. We all know how frustrating is when we are making dinner and start looking for something we need and lose the whole 10 minutes on it (not to mention how annoying is that). At the time we finally find it, our dinner on the stove is burned and ruined. Then we have to lose more time (and nerves) to try to fix it, or even start all over again. I don`t know about you, but it happens to me. So, finally I decided to organize everything you can find in the kitchen and pantry with this cute labels and stop losing valuable time.

Zdravo dragi moji, srećan vikend! Za one koji su prvi put na mom blogu, dobro došli, nadam se da ćete uživati. Moje ime je Vesna, ja sam bloger i pišem o svemu što je vezano za dom i stil.

Proleće je pred nama i svi ćemo se potruditi da naši domovi budu lepši i uredniji. Zašto ne početi od organizacije, kada ona štedi i vreme i prostor. U današnjem postu želim da sa vama podelim nešto što će vam pomoći u tome. 
Ja sam prilično organizovana i volim da je sve na svom mestu, pa nije ni čudo što poludim svaki put kada vidim da je moj mužić opet protutnjao kroz kuću kao tornado ostavljajući za sobom neverovatan haos. Ipak, ako želim da budem totalno iskrena, moram da priznam da sam ponekad i ja lenja, nemarna i haotična, jer, složićete se, život je ipak previše dragocen da svaki trenutak mislimo samo o tome kako biti praktičan i organizovan. 

Verujem da ćete se takođe složiti da neka mesta u našim kućama definitivno uvek žude za malo više organizacije, a to su pre svega kuhinja i ostava. Svi znamo kako je to kada počnemo da kuvamo i shvatimo da nam nešto nedostaje. Onda krenemo da tražimo i preturamo po policama i fijokama i izgubimo celih 10 minuta (o živcima da i ne govorim), a za to vreme nam jelo pokipi ili zagori i bude uništeno. Ne znam za vas, ali meni se to dešavalo. Koliko mi onda još vremena treba da to jelo spasim ili ponovo pripremim... Zato sam odlučila da napravim ove nalepnice i počnem da sređujem police i ormariće i uštedim dragoceno vreme. 

I designed this labels to help you get started improving the organization and appearance of those two places in your home. I`m sharing two sets (with 9 labels each) of kitchen and pantry labels today. One set of labels are in pre-designed and filled templates, and another is not filled, so you can add what ever you need on them. Both are ready to print on your laser and inkjet printers, preferably on the sticker paper (you can find it on Amazon) and you can print them as many times as you want. If you can`t find sticker paper, print them on regular paper, glue on your jar and add a scotch tape on top to protect them. Be sure to set your printer on landscape to print them correctly.

Ove nalepnice sam dizajnirala da se pokrenem i malo bolje organizujem, a usput i da sve izgleda lepše i urednije. Pred vama su dva seta po 9 nalepnica. Jedan set nalepnica je popunjen, a drugi nije, tako da ih možete upotrebiti za bilo koju namenu. Nalepnice su spremne za štampu i možete ih štampati na laser ili inkjet štampaču, koliko god puta želite. Najbolje bi bilo da upotrebite papir za nalepnice - stiker papir (ja sam ga kupila u Metro-u), ali ih možete odštampati i na običnom papiru i zalepiti lepkom na vaše teglice. U tom slučaju, preporučujem da ih odozgo prelepite širokim selotejpom i tako ih zaštitite od habanja. Obavezno podesite svoj papir na landscape prikaz kako bi se pravilno odštampale.

Kitchen Organization - Awkward Space Solutions

Organizing the kitchen is one of my first priorities when it comes to constant stuff overload. Having really small kitchen with some awkward corners can be challenging. So, for me it is very important to organize the space for easy and quick access to everyday ingredients all the time.

As you can see in the photos, between my refrigerator and one of the walls, we have this awkward, narrow space where the big pipes is situated. For me, this was a big eye sore, even after I painted pipes white to better blend with the wall. 

I was thinking how to deal with it, and finally came up with a simple and practical solution. I decided to make a tall shelving unit to hide the ugly pipes and doubles as a storage for flour, sugar, rice and other things i need daily. Take a look.

I`m really happy with the final outcome! It`s a great solution for storing so many things and also, after putting everything in the new place, I have two upper cabinets free!! What do you think? Do you have any awkward kitchen corner that needs to be organized?
